Hello! My name is... Nigiri!

Discover Nigiri's inspiring story!

Nigiri started an emotional stabilization, training, and behavior modification protocol in September 2022.

- Initially, she displayed behavioral problems related to separation, experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety when left alone at home, leading to object destruction.

- At home and in the presence of her owners, Nigiri exhibited attention-seeking behaviors such as jumping and barking, along with difficulties in concentration, relaxation, and impulse control.

- During walks, we observed Nigiri's struggle to focus on her caregivers even in calm environments and without triggers like people and other dogs. She would pull on the leash and easily get distracted by her surroundings.

- Nigiri showed moderate stress levels and reactive behaviors towards people and dogs, including jumping, barking, and pulling, even at a distance and in peaceful settings.Leonor Aguiar

Hello! My name is... Nigiri!

Currently, Nigiri shows significant behavioral improvements at all levels, including:

- A significant reduction in stress levels, both at home and during walks, as well as a decrease in attention-seeking behaviors, destruction, and reactivity.

- A noticeable decrease in episodes of destruction and their intensity.

- Increased autonomy (not constantly following the owners) and the ability to self-relax (e.g., going to sleep, chewing appropriate objects, and resting on a blanket or other suitable spot in the presence or absence of caregivers).

- Improved impulse control, offering more appropriate alternative behaviors such as sitting or paying attention instead of pulling or barking when seeking something.

- Enhanced learning ability, capable of performing behaviors such as sitting, waiting, looking, staying, and responding to recall cues when requested by the caregivers in moderate environments.

- A significant reduction in the duration, intensity, and frequency of reactivity episodes towards dogs and people.

At present, Nigiri is capable of relaxing, paying attention to caregivers, interacting, responding, and following their cues in the presence of people and in moderate environments. She also shows calm behavior towards dogs in calm to moderate environments.
