About Us
Dog Aware operates in the areas of education and training, and behavioral consultancy.
We focus on prevention and behavioral modification, emphasizing animal welfare and the development of healthy relationships between dogs and their families. Our goal is to significantly improve the quality of their interactions, mutual understanding, communication, and cooperation.
The daily life of a dog and its family can be very challenging to manage when there is some type of behavioral problem. This can range from the common issues such as lack of skills to walk calmly on a leash, to more complex and problematic (though frequent) behaviors related to fear, reactivity, and aggression.
Undesirable behaviors can reduce the quality of life and well-being for both the animal and the family, causing tension, negative emotions, and feelings of frustration and helplessness. These issues affect the relationship and diminish the emotional bond.
To find solutions that can be adapted to different needs, we offer the following educational services:
About the trainer and Behavior consultant
My name is Diana Costa, and I am a trainer and certified behavior consultant by IMDTB - Institute of Modern Dog Training and Behavior
I have a Master's degree in Educational sciences (2013) from the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Porto, Portugal. In addition, I hold a Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude (CPA) from the same Institution.
My interest in the Educational field has not just remained but indeed extended as I have decided to expand my knowledge by focusing on the canine aspect of Education and behavior.
I initiated my educational career in the canine training and behavior field in 2018 through the study of Etology, then attended various theoretical and practical courses in Portugal, obtaining my first Dog Training Certificate in early 2019.
However, I always wanted to know more, and this thirst for knowledge took me beyond borders. So in late 2019, I started this journey that took me to the UK- to England and also the so cold but equally green and charming Scotland.
There I initiated my Educational career by levels with the IMDT. Since then, I have attended various courses and seminars on different subjects regarding canine training and behavior, recently completing the last level in behavior with the 1-year course "Understanding and Working with Canine Behavior-Level V" -IMDTB.
However, the journey continues, and many travels and knowledge are coming.
For the moment, I share a little about those fantastic moments
